GLITCHSLAP

About

The weird, the broken and the brilliant.

What is Glitchslap?

Glitchslap is an underground contemporary art gallery brand for the weird, the broken and the brilliant, across digital chaos and physical spaces. It's avant-garde, irreverent and openly against art-world pretension. Our strapline is LONG LIVE THE GLITCH.

What is glitch art?

Glitch art is art made from errors: corrupted files, broken video, data moshing, chromatic aberration and pixel tears, used on purpose. More broadly, at Glitchslap the glitch means the human mistake that makes a work hit harder than anything polished.

Is Glitchslap a real gallery?

Glitchslap starts online, on YouTube and through the Glitch List, and is building towards a virtual gallery, open calls and physical shows.

How can artists get involved with Glitchslap?

Join the Glitch List at glitchslap.art. Artists on the list get first shot at founding-artist spots in our first open call, before anyone else.

Does Glitchslap charge artists to be ignored?

No. One of our rules is no paying to be ignored. Artists keep copyright of their work, and any money involved is agreed in writing first.

Why is Glitchslap against Frieze?

We're against the pretension, not the people: guest lists, price on request and 400-word wall text. The best art we've seen didn't come with an invitation.

Where can I watch Glitchslap?

On YouTube at @glitchslapartgallery, with new Shorts daily, and every video with a transcript at glitchslap.art/videos. Longer reads are on our Substack at glitchslap.substack.com.

How do I contact Glitchslap?

Email info@glitchslap.art. Send art, not spam.
